Having been around for thousands of years, the art of archery was in existence in Europe as early as 10,000 BC and traditional bows were constructed of pine that utilized arrows with a flint point. As a method to launch a projectile, bows were also used in ancient Egyptian cultures around the same time. Later, archery became a heavily developed skill that was used on the battlefields of the Islamic world and in many parts of Asia. In ancient Korean civilizations, entire regiments of archers were trained for battle and were considered a very skilled part of an army.
